Maverick had to keep his daughter company at night.
He got off work early and drove back to his hilltop villa.
He spent very little time at home in the early years and most of his time in Italy, but he could come back home two or three times a month.
Candy spent more time with Carolina in her childhood.
Last year, Maverick infiltrated the Lamont Group and now was able to keep Lamont Group under control with the help of the Kahl family.
However, to Maverick, he didn't care about whether the Kahl family would help him or not.
The Kahl family's favorite was to make a show always be tied up with the Lamont family.
When Candy was a little kid, no hostess was by her side to take care of her. It was Carolina who volunteered to do that. Back then, Maverick had a lot on his plate and had no time to take care this unexpected daughter. It was more appropriate for a woman to look after her.
Actually, Maverick was not a very good person.
He was selfish and autocratic, and it was impossible for him to take into account the vital interests of people who had little to do with him.
He only thought that his daughter needed a woman to keep her company. Since Carolina volunteered, he was willing to give her this chance.
The car went into the villa. With a feeling that her father was back, Candy toddled toward Maverick with her hands in the air before he could park and got out of the car.
The cold aura of the man gradually disappeared as the little girl approached him.
"Dad!" Candy was very happy.
Like other little girls who always clung to their fathers, she liked to stick to Maverick. Though they didn't spend much time together, Candy had never felt feel estranged from Maverick. She didn't conceal her love and admiration for Maverick in her eyes when her gaze met his.
Maverick reached to pull at his collar and pick up Candy.
Candy hooked around her father's neck with her soft hands and said softly, "Dad, I miss you so much. I want to kiss you."
This man who always kept a straight face turned all soft and gentle. He replied gently and leaned over to kiss Candy's cheek.
Candy waved her small hand, "Dad, did you miss me?"
"Yes."
"Have you been busy lately?"
"Sometimes."
"Can you sleep with me tonight? I want you to tell stories."
"Alright."
...
Not far away, at the villa door stood a woman dressed in a white dress, staring straight at them.
Though she could not hear clearly what they were talking about and only heard Maverick's brief answers, she was still a little jealous.
Maverick was so aloof.
Carolina had known him since childhood. He always been straight-face, reticent and reserved.
Her father and brothers described Maverick as cold and cruel many times.
But back then, Carolina made a bet that she would definitely get Maverick. If he didn't want love, would he desire some familial affections?
The answer was yes. Candy could arouse his tender feelings from the inside.
This was how Carolina comforted herself every time she felt bitter. Then, she smiled gently and greeted Maverick, "Maverick, welcome back."
Maverick came out of the garage with Candy in his arms. Hearing Carolina's voice, his expression remained the same. He only replied coldly and entered the villa.
Carolina couldn't hide the disappointment in her face, but soon resumed a smile that was natural.
"I asked the cook to prepare dinner. Would you like to take a bath first?" Carolina stepped forward to take Maverick's coat, car keys, and phone.
However, Maverick remained cold. He dodged to avoid being touched and reached to rub his daughter's head. "No, I'm taking Candy out to have dinner."
Carolina's heart sank. She wanted to say something else, but Maverick was walking towards the stairs with Candy in his arms.
"Candy will stay with me tonight. If she wants to come over tomorrow, I'll have the assistant send her over."
However, Candy buried her head upon Maverick's neck and said gently, "Dad, I want to stay with you for a few more days."
Seeing Maverick give Miley a cold shoulder, Carolina wasn't that angry anymore.
Forget it. It was Maverick's style.
He was such a cold man and treated everyone the same.
Therefore, she was willing to love him with all her heart.

At 7:00 p. m.
Unlike the hustle and bustle of the day, the night brought the city grace and charm.
Everly brought Edmond out to have dinner.
Edmond had stayed abroad for so many years and was not used to having home-cooked dishes these days, so Everly brought him to eat steak.
Everly was demanding when it came to the quality of life, so she would give her son the best. She brought Edmond to the upscale restaurant that she had carefully selected.
After cutting the steak for her son, she took a sip of water and whispered, "Enjoy your dinner. I'll go to the bathroom."
Edmond nodded. He was only a 5-year-old child, but he could keep an elegant and calm posture when having dinner.
Everly sighed and thought. This little fellow was born to know a lot of table manners. Did he inherit the elegant and noble temperament from his father?
Outside the restaurant.
When Maverick got out of the car with Candy in his arms, Candy was originally putting her head on Maverick's shoulder, but her eyes suddenly lit up and pushed Maverick hard.
"Dad, that's big brother!"
Maverick looked through the window and was surprised. They met again?
Edmond, who was seated inside, seemed to sense their gaze from outside the window. He turned around and smiled.
Wow, what a coincidence!
That was the handsome uncle ... but he was holding Candy, the crybaby, in his arms, right?
