Jared did not answer.
His purple eyes remained fixed on the transparent coffin.
Chaotic spirit sense spread outward from him at full strength, thin gray threads slipping through the ice and probing Aureon's corpse from within.
A second later, Jared's pupils snapped tight.
A chill ran from his spine to the back of his skull.
Deep inside the apparently dead body, he had found something.
A pulse of life.
It was unbelievably weak, broken into fluctuations so fine they should have been mistaken for residue. Yet the thread never actually ended. It remained hidden in the deepest part of Aureon's divine foundation, deliberately dormant beneath the appearance of death.
Ordinary spirit sense would never have detected it.
Chaotic perception did.
A Grand Zenith Immortal whose soul had dispersed and whose life force had ended should have begun returning to nothing immediately.
Aureon's corpse had not.
Its life had never truly gone out.
It had only hidden itself.
"Something's wrong," Jared said quietly.
His expression hardened.
"His core aura is still there. Not even a trace has dispersed. It's buried inside his bones. The ice can't stop the Divine Realm from pulling him back."
Violet's remaining immortal light drew inward.
She extended what was left of her own spirit sense into the coffin.
A few moments later, exhaustion deepened in her eyes.
"This kind of resurrection authority is rooted in the dimension of the Divine Realm itself," she said. "It stands outside the laws governing this world.
"Ordinary freezing, separation, sealing... it can pass through all of them. Even my immortal isolation sigils can't block it."
The sky exploded before she finished speaking.
A blade-like column of gold descended from a higher realm.
It seemed to span hundreds of miles of sky, descending from the upper celestial reaches like a supreme weapon aimed at the valley. Layer after layer of spatial barrier split before it.
Then the light struck the three-foot-thick ice coffin.
Crack!
A thin fracture appeared down the center.
Gold seeped through.
The line multiplied into a web of cracks until the entire coffin was covered.
Then the massive block of ancient ice shattered.
Thousands of glittering fragments scattered through the valley like snow.
The divine radiance enveloped Aureon's body.
Broken bones joined themselves.
Stopped blood began moving again.
Damaged organs regenerated in moments.
The cold stiffness left his limbs as the power rebuilt every layer of him from the inside outward.
His frozen corpse rose into the air.
Aureon's eyelids trembled once.
Then his dark-gold eyes opened.
The light inside them was fiercer than before.
So was the madness.
His divine pressure surged by nearly thirty percent, noticeably heavier than it had been before the ice sealed him.
The eighteenth resurrection.
This was no mere return to life. Whatever answered from the Divine Realm had fed power back into him.
"Hahaha!"
Aureon's laughter shook the valley.
Golden divine fire erupted around him, and the remaining shards of ice vanished the instant they touched it.
"That was your answer? Freeze me?" Aureon laughed. "You creatures of the Lower Realm understand far too little."
He pointed upward.
"My resurrection is rooted in the Divine Realm itself and blessed by a Divine Lord from a higher dimension!
"Freeze me, burn me, crush my body to pieces—it makes no difference! As long as the Divine Realm endures, I will never die. I can return without end!"
