A Man Like None Other (Jared Chance) novel Chapter 6596

"Go," Jared said, already turning toward the exit of the stone tomb. "Now. We leave now."

Cedric hesitated.

He looked at the Storage Ring, then at Jared’s back ahead of him.

Finally he gritted his teeth and followed.

The dozen-plus cultivators from the Abyssal Exchange rushed after them.

They had barely made it out of the stone tomb when a world-shaking blast erupted behind them.

"Rumble—"

The entire stone tomb exploded from within.

Rock blasted in every direction, and a pillar of dust shot into the sky.

Inside the rolling dust, a white-clad figure rose slowly into the air.

It was a middle-aged man in white robes, lean-faced, long hair hanging over his shoulders, his whole body radiating a horrifying pressure.

His eyes were closed, as if he were still asleep.

But his aura had already locked onto every person there.

Cedric’s face went white, and the hand gripping his sword started to shake.

"That’s... the tomb’s master? He’s still alive?"

Jared said nothing.

He watched the man in white, and there was no fear at all in his violet eyes.

Because from that man, he felt a thread of something strangely familiar.

It was the aura of the Aureate Codex.

This man had cultivated the Aureate Codex.

The man in white slowly opened his eyes.

They were golden—empty of emotion, filled only with a cold authority so absolute it felt merciless.

His gaze swept over the crowd, then stopped on Jared.

He looked straight into Jared’s eyes.

Something flickered in those golden eyes.

"An heir... to the Aureate Codex?"

His voice was soft and distant, as though it had drifted in from another time entirely.

The man’s voice spread beneath the gray sky, carrying the weight of ages—something worn down by countless years, ancient with exhaustion and dust.

He hovered in the air, white robes snapping in the wind. His black hair streamed loose over his shoulders, his face lean and severe, and his golden eyes reflected the gray sky and the ruined earth below.

His body was half-transparent, as if he were nothing more than a wisp of smoke that could vanish at any moment.

But the aura pouring off him was so overwhelming it left everyone there struggling to breathe.

Jared tilted his head up and met his gaze.

There was no fear in his violet eyes. Only a strange familiarity he couldn't put into words.

It was a resonance rising from deep in the bloodline itself—the response between the Aureate Codex and the cultivator who practiced it.

Cedric's red-gold eyes were full of fear.

He wanted to run, but his legs felt nailed to the ground. He couldn't force himself to take even a single step.

The dozen or so cultivators of the Abyssal Exchange behind him looked just as bad, their faces drained of all color. A few of the more timid ones were already trembling.

The man in white shifted his gaze away from Jared and let it pass over Cedric and the Gloamdeep sword in his hand.

A cold flash cut through his golden eyes.

That single glance struck like an invisible blade, driving straight into Cedric's soul.

Cedric's whole body jolted. His fingers gave way without his consent, and Gloamdeep slipped from his hand, hit the ground, and rang out with a series of sharp metallic clatters.

"That sword... is not meant for the likes of you to wield."

The man in white spoke softly, but every word landed like a hammer in Cedric's chest.
