The fans were not deterred after learning the truth. On the contrary, they sent countless letters, expressing their desires for Jack and Phoebe to become a legendary couple that would take the world by storm.
They were both extremely talented and good-looking. Not only did they hail from the same hometown, but they were also schoolmates. They were the very definition of childhood sweethearts.
They worked together seamlessly to put on a flawless performance, made possible only because they had a deep emotional connection as a foundation. They were practically a match made in heaven.
It would be too much of a shame if they weren't a real couple.
The reality at the time was quite different. Jack was deeply in love with Bella and couldn't fathom being separated from her. He also didn't believe that Phoebe had any romantic feelings for him and was convinced that their flawless partnership was brought about by their mutual love for music.
Now that they were reminiscing about the past, Jack realized that he did not regret his decisions at the time. In fact, he thought that his memories were only made sweeter by the missed connection.
Winter was greatly disappointed that Phoebe didn't immediately agree to her request. However, she also saw a glimmer of hope since Phoebe didn't outright reject her. She could only hope that Phoebe would eventually come around and take her up on her suggestion.
"Are you free now, Phoebe? Could you drop by the campus radio station? The students there would be thrilled to receive some guidance from you."
"I'm not free at the moment," Phoebe declined politely.
Winter sighed helplessly. "Alright then. I'll look for you again tomorrow."
After Winter's departure, Jack and Phoebe were able to continue with their meal. After they were finished, they strolled leisurely out of the canteen. Although it had stopped snowing by then, the ground was still covered by a pure white layer of snow.
It was still early in the day, so Jack suggested, "Why don't we take a stroll around the lake?"
