However, Jack quickly came to his senses.
Phoebe had said that he wasn't that type of person. Also, her gaze seemed to see right through him, so Jack didn't dare do anything reckless. He feared that he might ruin the good impression he had made on Phoebe, and the latter might look down on him because of that.
Ever since he first met Phoebe nine years ago when they were just starting high school, Jack had thought of Phoebe as a goddess.
To divert his attention, Jack began to observe the female dorm. He had to admit that it was much cleaner than the male dorm. Ever since the guys went for their internships, Jack's room had become incredibly messy.
Also, everything in the female dorm was neatly organized. There was even the faint smell of perfume in the air.
Phoebe had just tidied her bed as well. The bedside table was filled with certificates and books she had brought back. Out of curiosity, Jack got up and flipped through them.
Other than some books on finance, he found a paper Phoebe had published in an international journal, along with the awards she had received.
Jack was half-surprised to find that when Phoebe was at Brightland University, she had published many influential papers in internationally famous journals as an undergraduate. Those papers were widely referenced as well.
Phoebe was only an undergraduate student, but she was already gaining recognition in the financial field. She was a rising star.
Jack had even heard that Phoebe received an invitation from a world-class investment bank when she was in her third year. She was promised a lucrative pay and broad career prospects.
All this was evidence of Phoebe's excellence. Jack wondered who would be lucky enough to marry a perfect woman like her in the future.
Either way, he could never be that person.
At that thought, Jack couldn't help but feel a little disappointed.
