A Life Beyond Limits novel Chapter 924

That was impossible.

Wilhelmina was proud and had her doubts about Jack. But she respected strength, especially in those who could protect her. Otherwise, she wouldn't have fallen head over heels for the man. He wouldn't have left such a lasting impression.

It seemed, though, that the change in perspective on Jack was too late. The hatred between them ran too deep, leaving little hope for reconciliation.

As the bodyguards froze in shock, Jack strode straight up to Nelson, grabbing him by the collar with an icy smirk.

"Feeling pretty proud with your little army here, are you?"

"W-What do you think you're doing?" Nelson stammered, trembling in fear.

Jack tightened his grip around Nelson's throat and slapped him—hard—over and over.

Soon after, Nelson's face was so swollen it looked like a puffy roll.

"Hurry up! What are you idiots just standing around for? Are you going to let Mr. Cadwallader get beaten to a pulp?" a lackey shrieked from the back, urging the bodyguards forward while cowering himself.

He didn't have the guts to face Jack himself, so all he could do was egg the bodyguards on, sending them to their demise.

Just as the remaining bodyguards were about to charge in, police sirens blared in the distance. The officers had finally arrived.

Any later, and given the level of hostility, someone might have ended up dead or severely injured.

"What the hell is going on here? What's with the fighting? You wanna end up in jail tonight?" a middle-aged officer barked, momentarily silencing the crowd.

Jack gave Nelson one last kick, sending him sprawling.

Seeing the police, he scrambled toward them like a drowning man grasping at a lifeline.

"Officer, help me! These thugs—they were trying to kill us! You have to arrest them and make them pay!"

The officer didn't react immediately. But when he saw Neil, Zane, and the others, a flicker of recognition crossed his face. It was as if he knew exactly who these young men were.
