"Let's hope so," Wilhelmina muttered, rolling her eyes before turning away. A faint trail of her perfume lingered in the air as she walked off without another glance at Jack.
Watching her leave, Douglas raised an eyebrow. "Who was that?"
Jack smiled faintly. "You'll know soon enough."
Up to this point, Douglas had handled most of the communications with Zenith Capital. He'd never met Wilhelmina, their deputy CEO.
"Oh," Douglas said, nodding. He didn't press the question.
The Genesis Games team continued on toward the towering Alnewgo Central Tower.
Zenith Capital had leased the 53rd to 56th floors of the building for its Solara mainland operations. This was just one of their many divisions, yet again showcasing the company's extraordinary influence and resources.
They took the elevator straight up. When the doors opened, an impressive scene greeted them.
Across the hall stood an imposing door with the word "Zenith" emblazoned across the front in bold lettering, with the company's big logo below it.
A group of stylishly dressed women stood neatly in formation at the entrance. A bright red carpet stretched out from the doorway, lined on either side with vibrant fresh flowers. The welcome was extravagant, almost ceremonial.
Waiting in the center were several mid-level executives from Zenith Capital. As soon as Jack and the Genesis team stepped out, Todd Joyner, Zenith Capital's Senior Assistant Director, happily stepped forward quickly, leading the reception group with practiced polish.
If Zenith Capital could finalize the partnership with Genesis Games, and everything progressed smoothly, they could be looking at complete dominance of the gaming market.
With that kind of upside, the executives at Zenith Capital had every reason to be optimistic. No wonder Todd acted so humbly in front of Jack.
Jack gave a polite nod and told Todd there was no need for such pleasantries.
Todd quickly led the group down the corridor toward a spacious, beautifully decorated conference room.
Their path was lined with red carpet and fresh flowers. Reporters from top media outlets across Alnewgo and national platforms were already in position, cameras flashing and microphones ready.
