Sure enough, Jack felt a little conflicted.
If Bella had maintained her high-and-mighty attitude, he could have easily ignored her. But now, with her speaking in such a pleading tone and with so many eyes watching, Jack could only relent.
He didn't want to be labeled as someone who bullied women over such a trivial matter.
Jack followed Bella out of the auditorium and around the corner to a secluded spot.
Jack then asked in a calm tone, "If you have something to say, make it quick. I'm busy."
Bella's expression turned complicated. She bit her bottom lip tightly and said, "I heard you've been living quite a carefree life recently?"
Jack responded indifferently, "You've seen it yourself, haven't you? It's not bad; I'm excelling in both love and studies."
"You!" Bella was infuriated by his words, her voice trembling with a sob. "Jack, does this mean that if I don't reach out to you, you'll never bother to contact me again?"
Jack looked baffled. "Why would I contact you? To let you anger me? I'm not that free."
Bella was completely enraged by Jack's attitude. She bit her lip harder to hold back her tears and said, "Jack, you're such a jerk. Aren't you afraid I'll stop talking to you forever?"
Jack shrugged nonchalantly. "Do you think I'd care?"
Bella then retorted, "Jack, don't get cocky! Do you think I can't live without you? I'll find another man right now—no, ten men! Just wait and see!"
Jack rolled his eyes, not wanting to argue further.
Seeing that Jack remained unmoved, Bella's gaze shifted cunningly. She sneered and said, "Jack, do you really think Amelia likes you? Let me tell you, there are tons of guys chasing her. She's just playing with you."
But Jack didn't bother to listen any longer. At that moment, the competition in the auditorium had already begun.
Inside the hall, the host's enthusiastic voice echoed, and the massive audience erupted into thunderous applause.
