Joanne was scared out of her wits by the overly-enthusiastic seniors. She recalled the banner she had seen that read "be wary of fires, thieves, and your seniors" and thought that it described nothing but the truth. The men that surrounded her had a strange glint in their eyes.
In the end, she chose two members of the student council who were wearing red armbands to help her move her luggage. The other male students deflated with dejection upon having their advances rebuffed, thumping their fists on their chests and stamping their feet on the ground.
Joanne had arrived at the university by herself. Jack had planned to meet up with her, but he assumed that Joanne would only arrive at Alnewgo University in the afternoon. He had no idea that she would make her way over in the morning instead. Thus, he hadn't been present for her arrival.
Left with no other option, Jack told Joanne to wait for him while he rushed back to the university in one of the company cars. Fortunately, Joanne wasn't a bookworm who only knew how to study, so she had no qualms about exploring the university by herself.
Since Jack wasn't around, the first thing that Joanne did was follow the volunteer to her assigned dormitory to store her luggage. She would then head to the office to proceed with the registration process.
The student who was in charge of assisting Joanne with her luggage and guiding her to the dormitory was a sophomore named Orion Paddington. As a member of the student council, he introduced himself enthusiastically to her as he guided her toward her dormitory. It was obvious that he was behaving in an immensely friendly manner toward her.
It was common knowledge that the freshmen were prime targets for being tricked, especially women who were as pretty as Joanne, who attracted attention wherever she went.
Orion had only managed to win her favor by using the excuse that he was a student council member. For the time being, his goal was to have Joanne develop a good impression of him, which would help him deepen their relationship in the future. After all, the female freshmen were often fond of their seniors who gave them a hand.
"What's your name? Which school are you enrolled in?" Orion asked.
"My name is Joanne Holland, and I'm enrolled in the School of Finance," Joanne answered sweetly.
Orion smiled. "What a pretty name! I know the vice president of the School of Finance, and I'm also good friends with the vice president of the student union of your school. If you run into any issues in the future, don't hesitate to seek me out.
"Oh, that's right. Are you interested in joining the student council? I'm a member of the council, and I hold quite a high position as well.
"Let me know if you're interested. I'll guarantee you a spot in the council. Being a part of the student council is much better than being a member of the student union."
