Bella didn't express her gratitude outright. Instead, she simply said a faint, "Thanks."
Jack didn't seem to mind. He found a seat, sat down, and began browsing the web to pass the time.
Nearby, a chubby guy named Evan Grant was playing Skybound Wars. Evan was skilled, but at that moment, he seemed to be struggling. Just as Jack was watching with mild interest, Evan turned to him and asked, "Do you play this game?"
Jack gave a modest nod. "I know a little."
Evan was clearly in a hurry as he said, "Take over for me. I've got to meet some friends." Then, he dashed off.
Sitting down at the computer, Jack realized that the situation was dire—the game was on the verge of total defeat. Instead of giving up, he felt a surge of determination.
Jack's hands moved like lightning as he gripped the mouse and keyboard, his eyes fixed on the screen with laser focus, fully immersed in the game. Slowly but surely, the tide of the battle began to shift.
His quick reflexes and brilliant tactics left the opposing players frustrated and swearing angrily in the chat. In no time, Jack had gained a decisive upper hand, taking complete control of the match.
Just then, Evan returned with a couple of friends, only to find Jack dominating the battlefield. They stared, dumbfounded, as he led their team to victory.
Even Bella was drawn to the scene, her curiosity piqued as she watched Jack pull off the incredible comeback.
Players around the internet cafe turned their heads to witness the action.
One lanky guy asked Evan what was going on, and Evan stammered, "Unbelievable… Absolutely unbelievable! That's Chris Weston, the national number one player, and he's getting crushed and absolutely obliterated! How is this even possible?"
Suddenly, a gasp rose from the crowd as a burly young man leaped forward. Jack glanced over and recognized him—it was Leo Marks, one of the guys from Skyburst Gaming Cafe who used to hang out with Zane Cross.
Back then, Jack had beaten those punks so completely that they ended up on their knees, begging for mercy. Leo had admired him ever since. It seemed fate had brought them together again.
Evan, brimming with curiosity, turned to Leo. "Leo, do you know him?"
Leo puffed out his chest with pride. "Of course! He's the guy I told you about—the legend who destroyed us in Perthter City when we played Skybound Wars. We didn't stand a chance."
Though the defeat had been humiliating at the time, Leo now saw it as a badge of honor. After all, today he had witnessed Jack crush the Skybound Wars superstar Chris Weston with his own eyes.
