Jack shook his head and smiled. "Mr. Dodger, Wilhelmina and I have already talked things through. I've given this a lot of thought. A forced relationship never ends well, especially when there's no real feelings between us.

"If we force ourselves together, it won't just end in misery for us. It could even damage the relationship between our two families. Rather than let things end in tragedy, it's better to end it now, before it even begins."

He paused and glanced at Wilhelmina, then continued, "And please, don't overthink it. Wilhelmina didn't push me into this. This is my own decision. To be honest, I already have a girlfriend. If you and Mrs. Dodge are interested, I'd be happy to introduce her to you sometime when you're free."

Trent and Mavis exchanged stunned looks. Neither had expected Jack to already have a girlfriend. Did this really mean that Jack and Wilhelmina were simply not meant to be?

Trent, still unwilling to give up, asked, "Jack, won't you reconsider? I'll talk to Wilhelmina and try to change her mind. As long as you still like her, I'm sure you two can be together."

Mavis nodded repeatedly in agreement. "Jack, I really do like you a lot. Please, think it over again, won't you?"

Trent, Quintis, and Emily all nodded in agreement. Though Emily was a little disappointed, she had seen this outcome coming for some time.

She said, "Wilhelmina, I also agree to call off the engagement. But I hope you'll still visit the Lycan family often, alright? Even if you can't be my daughter-in-law, I'd still like to treat you as my own daughter. From now on, Jack will be like your older brother. Would you like that?"
