Carpenter Corporation was digging its own grave!

That was absolutely what most of the guests attending the gala were thinking. Although no concrete rules were set for tonight's charity gala, everyone who was anyone knew that the real star of tonight's show was Patrick.

No one was daring enough to go against Patrick, to steal his spotlight, but Elias had gone ahead and done just that! It seemed that there was some truth to the rumors that were circulating about—the conflict between the Big Four was about to reach a boiling point.

Since everyone had turned on each other, Elias was the first to jump off the sinking ship. His plan must be to take advantage of Gerard's presence at the gala. Even if Elias was defeated during the upcoming battle against the other three, perhaps Gerard would be merciful enough to leave a path for him to survive once he recalled Carpenter Corporation's generous contribution toward charity.

Patrick and the others' attention were trained on Elias, but he remained as steady as a rock and seemed to be completely unphased by their gazes. The calmness that he commanded was not something that a regular person had.

Peter spat, "Damned mongrel! He's going to pay dearly for what he's doing!"

The Trevells had ended up coming in last among the Big Four in terms of their donation amount, which in turn made Peter feel as if his reputation had taken a heavy blow. What was most despicable to him was how Elias had gone ahead and donated 100 million dollars in one go!

What he just did was a slap to everyone's faces.

Peter was even more frustrated when he thought about how that large sum of money could have belonged to the Trevells and the Roes in the future when Carpenter Corporation met its end. He never thought that Elias would casually donate it all away. It was no wonder Peter was on the verge of popping a vein from how angry he was.

Finally, Peter said, "You're so generous for donating 100 million dollars, Peter. Carpenter Corporation must be doing well for itself. I just can't help but wonder if your company's revenue was earned through proper means.

"I've heard that the relevant departments are currently conducting an investigation into your company on suspicion of tax evasion!"

Sarcasm dripped from every single word that came out of Peter's mouth as he threw his accusations at Elias in front of everyone.
