"As It Was Before" was quiet for a long moment. Of course, she had Jack's contact information. But in reality, she was just one of Jack's friends. She couldn't address him however she wanted like she did in the game, and she definitely couldn't express her real feelings for him.
She had to hide her true feelings in real life because she was saddled with too many concerns. The only way she was able to survive was to put on a mask to hide her real self.
"As It Was Before" stared at Jack's game character as if she was staring at his real person. She was slow to type her next reply.
"Jack, what should I do if I regret my earlier actions?"
"Regret?"
Jack didn't understand why she would say such a thing.
"I regret what I said earlier. I still want to keep in touch with you even after you get married to Feena in the future. What should I do?"
"You can contact me anytime. We're friends after all," he replied.
"But I don't want to just be friends. What I want is… a relationship that is similar to the one you have with Feena. Can I have that?"
"As It Was Before"'s eyes were glimmering with desperate hope, but Jack was blind to it.
"Of course not," he answered, realizing that she was getting much too emotional.
"You're right. Of course I can't have that. I always thought that I was above needing a title—that I could leave everything behind.
"But when you said you were going to marry Feena, I realized that my heart was hurting like crazy. I can't accept this reality."
"As It Was Before" expressed her feelings honestly, but Jack had nothing to say to any of it.
