However, facing Jack's business crisis, Joanne knew what truly mattered.
She knew that while the house gave her a sense of wealth and fed her vanity, it meant little compared to Jack's career. She only wanted his business to thrive—and if it came to it, she would give her life for it, never mind just a house.
Touched by Joanne's selflessness, Jack still pressed the keys back into her hand. The villa on the outskirts of Alnewgo was worth a fortune—tens of millions, maybe even over a hundred.
But against Genesis Games' 500-million-dollar debt, it was merely a drop in the bucket.
Jack chuckled. "Silly girl, don't worry about me. I'm not at my wits' end yet."
Joanne grew anxious. "But... the media says the banks are demanding repayment. That your company might have to sell assets just to cover the debt—you can't even pay salaries anymore."
Her eyes filled with worry as she continued, "Jack, I love this villa, but compared to your career, it's worth nothing. We can always buy another house, but if your business fails, it's going to be so hard to start over."
She couldn't bear the thought of enjoying luxury at the expense of Jack's career. Her conscience wouldn't allow it.
Jack smiled, touched by his sister's thoughtfulness. He affectionately ruffled her hair and said softly, "Don't be silly. Do you really think I'd go down so easily? Let me tell you, I've got a backup plan. Even if Genesis Games goes under, I won't sweat it."
It might not be such a bad thing if it came to that. It could make it easier to expose whoever was behind the sabotage.
Joanne didn't know his plan, but she trusted that he had a way out, seeing his confidence. Because in her eyes, Jack had always been invincible.
