"Oh, I see." Magdalene nodded in response to Jack's explanation.

A moment passed before her eyes flashed. She slapped Jack hard across his shoulder and was all smiles when she said, "You had us fooled from the start, you rascal! I knew there was no way that you could win Bella over with just some morning glories.

"Lo and behold—turns out you were acquainted with Bella from the very beginning. Ah, but it's a shame that Montclair's campus queen was 'conquered' by you just like that. You should treat us to a meal when the time comes!"

"Of course," Jack agreed easily. "Are you here to watch the speech too?"

"That's right! Why else would I be here if not for the speech? It's not as if I'm the one who's going to go on stage to give the speech, right? I mean, I would love to, but I don't have the right to do that just yet.

"Have you ever thought about just how cool and awesome the founder of Genesis Games is? His games are popular all over the world!"

Magdalene was wearing a satisfied expression as she chattered on and on. She was even fantasizing about the appearance of Genesis Games' founder in her heart.

Just then, the doors to the grand hall swung open slowly, and the students began to pour into the hall. Jack glanced at the time and realized that he needed to take his leave.

He said to Cynthia and Magdalene, "The two of you can go in first. I have something I need to do."

After all, he was one of the guests of the event. He needed to have some makeup on for him to look presentable for the audience.

Magdalene nodded and said, "Hurry along then! Don't forget that you owe us a meal, handsome. I won't forgive you if you forget!"

"I would never!"

Jack headed backstage when he was done speaking to them.

Meanwhile, Bethany and Francesca were sipping on some drinks as they sauntered along the hallway on their way toward the grand hall. Bethany was holding a fashion magazine in her hand while Francesca was swiveling her head around, hoping to spot someone handsome.

Suddenly, Francesca elbowed Bethany and exclaimed, "Bethany, look! Isn't that Bella's loser boyfriend? What is he doing here?"
