A Life Beyond Limits (Jack Holland) novel Chapter 749

Even though Jack was clad in branded clothes from top to toe, it was obvious that the garments had been purchased at a shopping mall. There was a clear difference between how he was currently dressed compared to the custom-made designer clothes that they were wearing. He was at least a league below them in that sense.

In their circle, a man who was dressed like Jack was considered unpresentable and would be looked down upon by others. Thus, the short-haired woman had no reason to continue speaking to Jack. She turned around and joined Elias' conversation with the beautiful woman.

Elias seemed to be engaged in a deep conversation with the beautiful woman. Her icy demeanor had melted somewhat as a pretty smile graced her features. Elias recalled Jack's existence at that moment, and he pulled the woman with him to Jack's side to introduce them to each other.

It was then that Jack found out that the beautiful woman was Wilhelmina Dodger. If he was remembering correctly, it was the same name that Emily had mentioned earlier. Could the beautiful woman standing before him be his fiancée?

It was too much of a coincidence. Jack never thought that he would run into her here of all places.

Jack couldn't help himself as he shot a few appraising glances at her. She was indeed extremely beautiful. However, her behavior was completely different from how she had acted on the plane.

After he had saved her, she had been relentless and forward, and she had been incredibly disappointed when Jack rejected her. However, at that moment, Wilhelmina was proud and indifferent, giving off the air that she was looking down on everyone around her.

Jack wasn't concerned with her behavior. In fact, the more indifferent Wilhemina was toward Jack, the better. That way, he could easily reject the arranged marriage.

While Jack was appraising Wilhelmina, she too was swiftly giving him a onceover. She had noticed his unscrupulous gaze on her earlier, causing her brows to knit together. She already had a bad impression of him, which only deepened when she noticed how he was dressed.

Lizzie's tone was unfriendly, and it sounded like she was ridiculing Jack, which made the situation quite awkward for Elias. However, Jack wasn't bothered in the slightest.

Lizzie wasn't wrong—he did grow up in a village. He just didn't understand why the term "village" had such negative connotations within this circle. It sounded like they were forced to swallow dirt when they had to say it.

Meanwhile, Jack had taken note of Lizzie's last name, as well as the way Elias and Wilhelmina treated her. If he was not mistaken, Lizzie was part of one of the four powerful families that resided in Tarthy City, the heiress of the Havok family. She wouldn't be able to be friends with Elias and Wilhemina if she didn't possess that status.

Since the charity auction had yet to begin, Elias led a group of heirs and heiresses of Tarthy City to sit at a table, so they could chat amongst themselves. Their topics of conversation were common amongst the upper class of Tarthy City, which included discussions of branded watches, yachts, flying private jets, collecting world-renowned red wines, as well as racing horses.
