Chapter 843
Third Person’s POV
She didn’t give Adelaide a chance to cut in
“And another thing the only reason I loathe Wanda so much is because of what she and Madison did to you back then. They used the absolute dirtiest tactics to torture you. Honestly, you have the most right out of anyone to rip her to shreds. How can you sit there and defend her now? If the Center ends up turning into a dumpster for trashy bitches Hike her, then I don’t think we should have built it in the first place.”
She was panting heavily, her chest heaving. The light from the window hit the side of her fåse, making the sharp angles of her cheekbones look even harder.
“Since you admit you hate her, why the hell are we still helping her? A toxic bitch like her deserves to end up as a homeless rogue and get beaten to death by a mob. She earned every bit of it. You know what? The commoners outside are calling us disgusting hypocrites, and I’m starting to think they’re right.”
Adelaide didn’t argue. She listened quietly, waiting until Paisley’s breathing finally slowed down before she spoke.
“Alright, let’s meet in the middle. We’ll go down to the Center together and evaluate Wanda face–to–face. If you still hate her guts after that, we’ll have the guards throw her out immediately. How does that sound?”
“I don’t even want to look at that face,” Paisley said, rubbing the bridge of her nose in frustration.
“I don’t want to step foot inside the Center at all right now. The past two days, the place has been surrounded by a frantic mob screaming profanities and throwing trash at the walls. Can you even imagine? The place looks filthier than the slums.”
Adelaide went silent for a couple of seconds.
“Fine. We’ll leave her alone for now. I’ll have Wendy keep digging and compile all the evidence from the people claiming she abused omegas. Will that work?”
Paisley’s eyes darkened.
“At the end of the day, Adelaide, you still don’t buy my opinion. You don’t want to kick her out at all. You wanted to investigate, and
I already had Wendy fully back you up on that. Do we really need an investigation to know Wanda is toxic? Every wolf in this city knows it’s a fact.”
She abruptly stood up, tossing her hair back.
“Whatever, Adelaide. Handle this however you want. I’m washing my hands of it.”
With that, she turned and marched out of the room.
Adelaide didn’t call out to stop her, listening as Paisley’s hurried footsteps faded down the hall.
In reality, Beata had been standing outside the door the entire time and had overheard the entire blowout.

Once Paisley stormed past with a sour face and vanished down the corridor, Beata quietly slipped into the study.
“Luna, honestly, if you just went with Paisley’s plan and sent two big guards to throw Wanda out, the whole problem disappears. Is it really worth ruining things with your closest friend over a wolf like that?”

Adelaide slowly raised her head.
She looked at Beata, hereyes completely steady.
“You’re only looking at the immediate mess, not the big picture. What if the wolf pulling the strings behind this doesn’t care about Wanda at all, and their actual goal is to completely wipe out the Center?”
Beata froze in her tracks.
“But… aren’t the rioters outside only causing trouble because of Wanda?”
Adelaide let out a heavy sigh.
“On the surface, yeah. But don’t forget, the proposal for this Center faced massive pushback from a ton of court officials from day one. They never wanted a non–profit like this to exist. Do the math, Beata. Do you really think a handful of low–level omegas from the Glenveils could get these rumors to flood the entire city in just a few days?”
Beata didn’t really grasp the politics of what Adelaide was saying; she just felt that letting Wanda drive a wedge between the Luna and Paisley was a terrible trade..
尘
“I just know Paisley has always been incredibly supportive of you over the years. Plus, there’s no actual proof that someone else is messing with us in the dark.”
“But we can’t afford to take that risk. Don’t worry, I can handle it,” Adelaide said, resting her chin in her hand as she thought it over.
“I’ll head down to the Center myself later.”
Wendy was still standing to the side. She actually leaned toward Adelaide’s way of thinking.
After all, if the Center was going to survive long–term, it needed to stand its ground on principle.
She looked up and said, “Luna, let me come with you.”
Adelaide looked at her, surprised. “No need. You stay on the investigation. Check if anyone is secretly bankrolling people to spread
these rumors.”
“Yes, ma’am!” Wendy took her orders and exited.
Adelaide then called Ralph back in, ordering him to look into exactly how many omegas Wanda had abused in the past and which incidents were the most severe.
Meanwhile, Paisley was stomping through the garden to blow off steam when she spotted Luna Priscilla having coffee. She immediately started marching over to her.
Priscilla had clocked Paisley from a mile away and instantly turned to Susan. “Quick, let’s go back to my room.”
Susan laughed. “Paisley is coming right toward us.”
“That’s exactly why I’m leaving,” Priscilla said. “I am not sitting here listening to her complain about Adelaide, Hurry, let’s move.”
