Third Person’s POV
P
Luna Skye’s wolf let out a restless, low whimper.
Ever since her mate had secretly returned from the border, he had become volatile and prone to sudden rages.

Even weirder, several strange wolves she didn’t recognize had moved into the estate lately. They smelled of thick, clotted blood and didn’t show her, the Luna, an ounce of respect.
In the southern district of the capital, the late–night streets were as black as a thick fog.
Suddenly, a slight vibration rippled through the air.
Avery closed his eyes, his wolf ears twitching in the wind. Inside the carriage, Adelaide gripped her dark red whip.
It sat coiled by her combat boots like a viper ready to strike.
Paisley sat bolt upright beside her, radiating a sharp, defensive edge.
The next second, a dozen dark shadows dropped silently from the rooftops on both sides.
The battle exploded instantly.
Avery let out a beastly roar, his wolf surging to the front of his consciousness. He lunged upward, wolf claws extending from his hands as he shredded the throat of the nearest assassin.
The assassin reacted fast, narrowly dodging a fatal blow, but Avery still tore through his flesh.
The scent of fresh blood hit the air like a match to dry grass. The suppressed killing intent of the attackers surged, their pheromones flooding the street in a wave of cold aggression.
“Bang!”
The carriage door was kicked open, and Adelaide and Paisley burst out like twin bolts of lightning.
Adelaide flicked her wrist, her whip tearing through the air and forcing back two assassins trying to flank her
Paisley didn’t waste a single movement; she shifted into her wolf form mid–air and dove into the fray, pinning one attacker to the cobblestones.
Milo stood at the rear, clutching a black combat blade.
As one of the Western Tribe’s top melee masters, he’d figured that with this many elite killers, snatching Adelaide would be a live- minute job
Instead, his first wave was already being pushed back
He roared, charging Avery with his blade raised.
The heavy edge cut through the air with a whistle of wind Milo poured every ounce of his pressure into his arms, confident that even if this didn’t split Avery in two, it would leave him crippled.

Chapter 774
Milo and Avery both grunted as the massive kickback numbed their arms. Milo’s grip on his hilt nearly failed.
He was floored–how was this guy so damn strong?
He couldn’t afford a stalemate. The Capital Guard would be on them any minute.
Milo narrowed his eyes, quickly reading the field.
Avery and Paisley were the tanks; Adelaide, with only a whip, was the “weak” link in close quarters.
He signaled his men to keep Avery and Paisley busy, then took two killers with him to surround Adelaide.
“One minute,” he told himself. “Knock her out, grab her, and go.”
Ming intent closed in on Adelaide he two assassins blocked her exits.
