He had not even bothered to clarify the true origins of his breeder before lavishing her with affection for years.
More absurdly, he had allowed her into his study, where she had access to the weapon designs.
The designs were the most confidential secrets that could not be leaked.
Prima’s single statement turned the faces of all the Mist Shadow members as pale as paper.
Just moments ago, many had been shouting that Adelaide was trying to use the Mist Shadow Pack to assert her authority.
But now, everyone was deflated, unable to utter a single word.
Julius suddenly leaped up and slapped Prima’s face hard, roaring, “You liar! I treated you so well, and you betrayed me?”
Prima fell to the ground, a trickle of blood slowly seeping from the corner of her mouth.
She propped herself up with her hands, still kneeling upright, but tears streamed down her face.
Her lips trembled as she spoke through her sobs, “I’m sorry, I’m beyond redemption. I have nothing more to say.”
“You’re going to get us all killed!”
Julius kicked her again, shouting, “I asked you, you deceive me for so long?”
said you

and
you

Prima lay there, weeping uncontrollably, but her tears could no longer win back the man’s love and compassion that she once had.
Adelaide let out an almost inaudible sigh.
Fortunately, Lycan Erasmus had already set the tone yesterday. Otherwise, with such a huge scandal in the Mist Shadow Pack, no one would be able to escape.
Lycan Erasmus had already labeled these she–wolves as victims and would not easily change his mind.

The decision to investigate the Mist Shadow Pack and the Wall family last was indeed wise in hindsight.
Adelaide looked at the crying Prima and asked, “The two drawings you took out, did they include designs for defensive weapons and ballistae?”
Most members of the Mist Shadow Pack had been werewolf warriors and understood the implications of Adelaide’s question.
They also realized that she was not truly trying to use this incident to gain credit.
If she wanted to take credit, she could have simply taken Prima away and claimed that the drawings she had were for defensive weapons and ballistae, and she would have easily earned her merit.
But now, by asking specifically, if Prima answered “no,” there was still a chance for things to turn around.
The nature of ordinary weapon designs was entirely different from that of defensive weapons and ballistae designs.
Everyone’s eyes were fixed on Prima, and Julius was so angry that his eyes seemed about to pop out.
He warned her sternly, “Think carefully before you answer!”
Prima lifted her head, her delicate face streaked with tears, her pale red lips trembling slightly as she spoke in a pitiful voice, “No. After my mother passed away, I no longer followed their arrangements. I have children in Mist Shadow and really didn’t want to be their puppet anymore, so when Hunt came to find me later, I always avoided him.”
This statement relieved everyone present, but the relief was short–lived as they quickly became anxious again, looking at Adelaide.
At this moment, neither Publius, Julius, nor any other member had the same defiant attitude as before.
On the contrary, Publius’s face showed a kind of timidity he had never shown in his life. They were all too aware that if Adelaide simply said, “I don’t believe you,” and continued to press for answers, there was no telling what other secrets might be uncovered.
Even if nothing else was found, just considering the Mist Shadow Pack’s hostile behavior towards Adelaide and the Capital Guard earlier–refusing them entry and even splashing water to drive them away–their arrogance now seemed both humiliating and foolish.

:
In their minds, Adelaide would surely seek revenge.
It wouldn’t be difficult for her to pin some charges on the Mist Shadow Pack.
All eyes were on Adelaide, who was looking at Prima.
Prima was still crying, but her sobs were quieter than before.
She seemed to understand what she was about to face.
