Maya knew their pack was under suspicion, but today’s visit was just for questioning, not

arrests.

Clearly, there was no solid evidence linking them to Madison’s treason yet–Madison hadn’t implicated the Blue Abyss Pack.

In the villa’s guest room, Adelaide and Ellen took their seats, along with an administrative assistant from the Capital Guard headquarters to record the proceedings.

Before the questioning began, Crispin entered with Carla and Liz.

Carla and Liz, distant from their deceased mother Sidney, disliked Adelaide.

They sat down without greeting anyone.

Crispin, however, nodded politely at Adelaide.

Adelaide acknowledged him with a slight nod and said, “Please, take a seat. I’m here on official business. Answer my questions directly.”

Carla frowned and said coldly, “What official business? Did you just get your position and now you’re trying to assert your authority over our pack?”

“Heed Gamma Adelaide’s words–answer her questions,” Maya signaled to Carla.

Turning to Adelaide, Maya forced a smile and said, “Gamma Adelaide is family; she wouldn’t make things difficult for you.”

Carla sneered and turned away, impatiently saying, “If you have questions, just hurry.”

Adelaide, unperturbed by Carla’s tone, coolly instructed the administrative assistant, “Note that Carla seems impatient and unwilling to cooperate, indicating a potential defiance of orders.”

The assistant opened his folder, and Ellen quickly prepared paper and pen, responding, “Yes, Gamma Adelaide.”

Carla froze, her face cold as she retorted, “Hey, don’t fabricate things. When have I refused to cooperate?”

Adelaide remained still and continued, “Also note that Carla spoke to me rudely.”

Adelaide clarified, “Germain’s knowledge is for Germain to address. You need only answer for yourselves.”

Maya grew uneasy. If this was just a routine inquiry, why start with such a pointed question?

“Alright. We knew nothing,” she reiterated.

Outside the villa, two members of the Capital Guard stood solemnly.

Passersby, dressed as noble maids, lingered to observe how long the Capital Guard would remain and if any further actions would unfold.

As dusk fell with no one emerging, whispers arose.
