Rosa, aged and separated from the other maids, was confined alone in a relatively clean cell.

Since her imprisonment in the Ministry of Justice, she had refused food and water and remained utterly silent.

Dennis had personally urged her to cat.

But she simply lay in her cell, displaying a posture of utter resolve to die.

Lance knew Rosa would never betray Madison, whom she had raised from childhood.

Their bond was deeper than the ordinary masterservant relationship.

Over the years, as Madison’s inner circle constantly changed, Rosa remained loyal, privy to all of Madison’s deeds.

In fact, many of the unspeakable deeds had been carried out by her.

Dennis interrogated Lacius today,Lance told Adelaide. Lacius confessed that Madison ordered the disfigurement of Cassius’s family. It was Rosa who suppressed the order; otherwise, Cassius’s family would have been annihilated.

Adelaide was furious. Madison is monstrous!she exclaimed.

To kidnap someone resembling my mother for Hunt’s sake and to disfigure and slaughter those resembling my fatherhas she lost her mind?

Madison’s atrocities are known best to Rosa,” Lance said.

Madison’s crimes go beyond treason,” Lance continued after a pause. She bears blood debts. While Lycan Erasmus may not pursue these, the victims, whether living or dead, deserve justice.

Adelaide agreed. Every life matters and shouldn’t be destroyed so heartlessly.”

I’ll speak with Rosa,Adelaide decided.

I’ll have her brought to the interrogation room,Lance said.

No torture devices in the room,Adelaide reminded.

Lance smiled, They’re stored separately. We’ve not used them yet. Come, I’ll show you the

room.

The Ministry’s building was grand and spacious. The cells were at the back left, accessible via several corridors.

The trees there were sparse, their leaves falling, leaving few remaining.

The interrogation rooms, located at the back right, consisted of seven or eight rooms.

Lance opened one door and had Rosa brought in.

The room was cleverly designed with small partitions made of thin sheer fabric.

Behind these, one could hide and listen clearly to even the faintest sigh.

The room was welllit, but there were no lights behind the partitions, so the person being questioned would have no idea anyone was there.

Adelaide sat with her back to the partitions.

The room was simple, with two tables, three chairs, and no torture devices.

Two lamps on the table before her would be lit during interrogations, allowing Lance to record statements from behind the partition.

This setup would make Rosa believe she was alone with Adelaide.

Rosa entered, her body weakened by her hunger strike, barely able to stand without support.

Adelaide observed her gaunt face and chapped lips.

Rosa’s eyes were lifeless, radiating an aura of impending death.

Recognizing Adelaide, Rosa shakily leaned on the table to sit upright.

Rosa’s gaze was cold and deep, like two ancient wells without a trace of light, staring straight at Adelaide.

Adelaide met her gaze.

Adelaide recalled seeing Rosa once at Madison’s manor.

Rosa had been imposing in her stoneblue dress, her authority etched into every

wrinkle.

Now, her clothes were wrinkled, her hair disheveled, her headpiece askew, and her face marked by dark spots.

She appeared shrunken and frail, a shadow of her former self, clearly ravaged by worry hunger.

Though appearing indifferent and ready to die, Adelaide knew Rosa must be internally desperate.

Dennis had tried talking to her, but Rosa hadn’t responded.

Now, facing Adelaide, Rosa spoke first, coldly, Don’t bother trying to get me to say anything against the princess. Save your

time.

Adelaide replied calmly, Lacius confessed that it was you who saved their family. Without you, they’d be long gone. For that, I want to thank you.
