Third Person’s POV
“You’re so delighted now. Do you think I’m a nobody without an office?”

Beata shook her head, laughing, “Of course not! It takes real ability to be an official, and you’ve got tons of it!”
“Who’s that talented?”
Paisley walked in, her crimson pheromones carrying a warm and cheerful vibe, and chimed in.
Seeing Adelaide in uniform, Paisley’s eyes lit up. She teased, “Well, well, let me get a good look at our commander! Where are you off to? Can I come along?”
Adelaide playfully punched her shoulder, “You show up just in time. There’s something I need your help with.”
“Anything for you, Gamma Adelaide!” Paisley mockingly bowed.
Adelaide rolled her eyes, “Can’t you speak plainly? Do I have to knock some sense into you?”
Everyone in the room was amused by their interaction.
Beata said, “Paisley, you’re really witty. No wonder Priscilla adores you so much.”
“Adores me more than Adelaide, that’s for sure!”
Paisley put on a teasingly proud expression, a perfect imitation of Priscilla.
Adelaide rolled her eyes again and turned serious, “Let’s talk business. I’m about to head out.”
Paisley sobered up instantly, “Alright, everyone out, I need a word with Gamma Adelaide.”
Everyone giggled and left the room.
Once they were alone, Adelaide turned to Paisley, “Do you think I look good in this uniform?”
“I knew you’d be vain!” Paisley smirked, “You look great! Authoritative yet dashing.”
Adelaide looked at her reflection, feeling a touch of unfamiliarity, “Honestly, I think it suits
me.”

Paisley cupped her cheeks, excitedly stomping, “Adelaide, you’re amazing! Our kingdom’s never had a she–wolf as a royal official. You’ve made the Shadow Peaks proud!”
Adelaide’s lips curved upwards, “I didn’t expect Lycan Erasmus would really give me a substantive role. Honestly, I felt nothing special yesterday; but when I put on this uniform, my shoulders seemed to sink a bit–1 finally get what responsibility feels like.”
Her expression turned grave. She knew the role of Ironthorn Army’s commander wasn’t easy, but she couldn’t shame her late father and brother.
Paisley held her hand earnestly, “Focus on your duties. I’ll stay with the pack. Whenever you need me, Avery and I are there. Should I call Angela and the others over? Oh, and Georgina and Prunella are in the city too. Just say the word when you need help.”
Adelaide shook her head, “Don’t bother them yet. I fear Lycan Erasmus might just want me for this treason case. After it’s done, he might dismiss me, saving them the trip.”
“Besides, with you and Wendy here, it’s enough. Have Wendy keep a closer eye on Silverlight and Blue Abyss.”
Seeing Paisley’s puzzled look, she explained, “Lance and I think they’re likely forging new weapons. If they can’t get them to Madison, they’ll either destroy or hide them.”
“We need to find where these weapons and armors are forged. The Ministry of Justice is investigating too, but Lance thinks they might contact Germain later.”
“Leave it to me!” Paisley agreed readily.
“Oh, and about Wilorina…”
Adelaide hesitated but decided to tell the truth, “Find Ramona when you can. We lied to her about the operation being on October 15th. She might feel we don’t trust her. Warn her to be wary of Wilorina. Wilorina once approached the werewolf doctor at Madison’s manor and tried to seduce him into tampering with Aireanna’s medicine to kill her.”
“Trying to poison her own mother? So heartless!”
Paisley stared at Adelaide in shock. “But why on earth would she do that?”
“Only she knows the specifics. Still, you should go. Wilorina’s gone into hiding, probably relying only on Ramona. A word to Ramona could prevent trouble. Also, send some regular medicine to Aireanna or get Doctor Galvin to check on her–her health must be dire.”
Paisley agreed, “I’ll go with Galvin. Don’t you worry.”

Adelaide pulled her to sit down, “There’s one more thing. I need to tell you in advance, so be prepared mentally.”
Paisley plopped down, curious, “So serious? Trying to scare me? What is it?”
